"So we're on seven, right?" Xander asks Bridge as he strikes a match. He knows the answer, because it's not exactly the first Hanukkah celebration he's been to (not even counting the previous six nights) but it never hurts to confirm with the experts.

[OOC: Shh, yes, we know 2023 wouldn't match up with this year's Jewish calendar. Shh. It's another dimension and G-d knows these guys are so timefrakked anyway that who knows what day it really is for them. OH ALSO open for the locals, and/or calls from FH friends.]

"Wouldn't tackling someone holding a match only make the problem worse, anyway?" he wonders.

"I guess there's the whole Stop, Drop & Roll thing?"

"Somehow I don't think 'drop the burning match on the floor' is what they meant by that."

Xander shrugs. "It works when your aim is 'stop the Watcher from setting himself on fire.'"

"But you're not going to set yourself on fire," Bridge points out, and then narrows his eyes suspiciously. "Are you?"

Xander rolls his. "No. But this is Mel we're talking about."

"Good, because flame-broiled Xander isn't part of the plan ever," Bridge says solemnly.

"Not kosher?" Xander teases.

"Really, really not," Bridge says. "My grandmother would strongly disapprove."

Xander gives him the eye. "Is your grandmother all that cool with the married to a Goy thing in the first place?"

"She didn't threaten you with a kitchen knife," Bridge points out. "Even accidentally."

"There is that," Xander allows. "Does that run in your family? Should I have asked that before the wedding?"

"No," Bridge says. "At least, I don't think so, anyway. So you're safe."

"Whew." Xander wipes a hand across his forehead. A hand that's no longer holding anything on fire, thank you. "...I should probably not start listing off the things that run in mine."

Bridge shrugs. "You're not them, you know. You're you."

"I think we can all light a candle in thanks for that," Xander says with a shudder. "Though I can't do much about the fact that they're in my genes."

"Well, no," Bridge admits. "But if there's one thing I've learned in the past couple years it's that genes aren't everything."

"Sometimes the situation calls for spandex," Xander says with a nod and a mostly-straight face.

Bridge snorts and throws a chocolate coin in Xander's direction.

"Thank you, thank you! Don't forget to tip your waitress too! And try the gefilte fish!"

"Waiter," Bridge corrects. "I was only a girl that one time, and didn't bring anyone food."

Xander frowns, because the range of responses is almost too plentiful to pick one, but he settles on, "I brought you food, though. Well, hot chocolate. 'Cause it was raining and your clothes were all wet and --" clingy "--what was the question again?"

"Latke?" Bridge points to the tray of fried-food-goodness, now settled on the table.

"I'm fairly sure potato pancakesweren't the question," Xander says, helping himself to several of them. "Mmmm. Possibly the answer, though."

"Glad to oblige," Bridge says, hand reaching out for a doughnut.
