Bali H'ai, Friday Night: a beachside restaurant, then places more secluded

It's Friday, which means no work and there's that trip up the mountain tonight. It's also Xander's anniversary, which means as cool as the volcano might be -- you'd hope -- the rest of Fandom can enjoy trekking up it in this decidedly not-cool weather without them.

"That was good," Xander says as the door closes behind them and they scuff out into the sand. "Different, but good."

"Yeah," Bridge agrees. "Not that I don't like Luke's, because I do, because hamburgers are awesome, but if the island stays true to pattern we've only got a day or so more here, and so I'm glad we took advantage of that for more than just a trip to the bar."

Xander laughs. "Since when does the island ever stay true to a pattern, aside from "Weird shit will continue to happen."

"Graduation's always interrupted by *something* attacking," Bridge replies.

"Okay, point to you," Xander admits, leading them in a winding path down the sand towards the shoreline. "But it's always something different."

"People turn into little kids once a year," Bridge adds. "Granted, the timing's never exactly the same- Oh! Oh! Any weirdness that involves people turning into something not their usual selves? Typically happens on a weekend. Except for those times with the guys turning into girls and then the girls turning in to guys."

"The kids show up on weekends," Xander adds, quieter, casting a glance out across the darkened ocean towards.... wherever the kids came from, so pretty much noplace and everyplace.

"Right after prom," Bridge says, glancing first at Xander and then trying to follow his gaze to... wherever it was he was looking.

"To scare the straight couples into never having sex again?" Xander grins. "Because that works."

"A lot of the people I know took it as something to look *forward* to," Bridge says with a nod.

"If you'd asked me when I was eighteen if I'd ever be one of those people, I'd have laughed in your face." Xander points to his own face. "Like this: ahahahahahahaha oh my God you're serious have you met my family?"

"I couldn't have asked you then, because I didn't really *know* you when you were eighteen," Bridge points out. "I mean, I knew you, in the sense that I um, knew who you *were*," he blushes a bit. "But I didn't know-you know-you, you know?"

Xander stops to fully look at him. "You knew who I was? Back then? Hell, I didn't even know who I was back then."

"Well, I mean, it's... it's a small school. It was smaller then. Couldn't help but notice you, because you were all, all... notice-able," Bridge stammers.

"I was a dork."

"Yeah, well. I don't know if you've noticed, but that's kind of one of the many things I *like* about you," Bridge replies, bumping Xander's shoulder lightly with his own. "Dork."

"And here I thought it was my fabulous taste in pajamas and my stylin' dance grooves." Xander holds up one hand, striking a pose, then does his best moonwalk.

For like two steps before falling flat on his ass in the sand.

"...!"

His best moonwalk really isn't very good.

Bridge is... trying not to laugh. And failing rather badly at that.

"Ah, the mocking of my pain, a sure sign of true love if ever there was one." It's really rather painy pain, actually, considering where he landed. Xander makes a concerted effort to get to his feet again.

Well, it's not like Bridge has any idea about any painy pain, given the, er, pains that were taken all week to make sure he *remained* unaware of such. "Mocking accompanied by an offer to help you back up," Bridge corrects, holding out a hand.

"See, now that's just crazy-talk." Xander shakes his head -- but takes the gloved hand in his own and pulls himself up.

"Well, we did already establish last week that I'm apparently crazy for being in love with you, so I think I'm doing okay."

"Certifiable, but okay," Xander agrees. He seems to have forgotten that he's supposed to let go of the hand once he's actually upright again.

A fact that, unlike any painy pains, has not gone unnoticed by Bridge. He's really not complaining, though. "So if I'm crazy, what does that make you, for dating a crazy person?"
