"Did I mention one of the duties of Moral Support is to make sure I actually go in this place?" Xander asked as he peered in through the glass doors.

"Well, you're old enough in people-years; that's all I care about." Ray started to carry the tattoo designs over to the counter. "Lemme get you guys set up with some paperwork to sign, and then we can get started."

"Actually can I get that back?" Xander pointed to his paper.

[needsaparrot]

"Changed your mind?" Ray held the sheet out to him. "S'okay; people do. Better now than a breakup and three hundred bucks worth of repair work later."

Xander raised an eyebrow, then shook his head. "Yeah no. Just wanted to fix something." He unclipped the Sharpie from the same pocket he'd been carrying the page in, and added another couple of strokes to the design.

He handed it back. "There. That'll do it."

Anders chuckled his approval. "I'm pretty sure that's not gonna be an issue," he assured Ray. In Xander's case he was pretty damn confident, anyway; in his own it was more of a hope.

"Hey, his ass, not mine. Not like I want to talk myself out of a job." Ray took the sheet back without commenting on the addition, and reached for their paperwork.

Anders cleared his throat. "So, uh. You going first then?"

"I thought you were going first?" Xander snickered.

Gulp.

"Yeah, okay," Anders agreed.

And now it was Ray snickering at them both. "Or you could just go at the same time. We do have more than one inker on staff."

Gulp.

"I...knew that. Right. I guess. Yeah. Sure."

La la la, this was not Anders smirking behind his hand.

Because it was Anders doing that and internally meeping at the same time.

"You can even be in the same room if you want." That was totally Ray not bothering to smirk behind his hand.

Anders did that thing where he tried to stand up straighter and look solemn again.

"I guess as Moral Support Guy I should be there, yeah."

"Come on." Xander clapped Anders on the back - right where his tattoo was eventually intended to be. "We can be mutual moral support. Or you know, actual support if either one of us starts to fall over."

"I think we'll at least be sitting down for that," Anders said dubiously -- and no, he did not retaliate with the right-where-the-tattoo'll-be gesture, thank you very much. "Right? . . . right?"

"Well, you will be."

"Dude!" Anders glanced at Ray for help. "You're so not gonna have to stand up for that!"

"Well no, but I don't think I'm gonna be sitting."

"Point. And probably not for a while." And it's a good thing, Anders thought, that they have portal travel because wow, that'd be a bitch of an uncomfortable flight back to Bali Hai.

"Unless you're aiming a lot lower than I thought, you should be fine for sitting down," Ray said, pointing them down a hallway filled with curtained cubicles. "Laying on your back, maybe not so much."

Anders let out a nervous sort of snicker-snort as he headed down the hallway. "Bricklaying could be dicey for a while there too maybe."

"No comm--" Xander stopped. "It's a surprise. For next week. I'm gonna have to hide this for a week!"

Anders diverted himself from the realization that he was going to be one-handed when it came to putting up any poles or what have you by giving Ray a helpless look. "I might have to take back what I said about him being completely prepared," he teased.

"Well I don't exactly walk around Fandom with my pants down most of the time!" Xander argued.
