MCA0: Sunday Night

This time, Xander didn't get stuck to the couch. He's expecting the boyfriend back, after all, and there's still... well, eight hours or so of Spring Break left. Sort of.

So he spent the evening in the kitchen. There's like, real food. Real "this came from a cow, and next to it is this thing they discovered in the New World called a potato and damn does it all smell good" food.

The only challenge is, well, not eating it before Bridge gets here.

Xander looks down and identifies the source of the Thud.

"...How'd you manage that?" Because that's the important question, yes.

"I'm not sure," Bridge admits. "I just kind of um, floated through the door and then there it was. You don't mind that I did that, do you? Came in, I mean. I mean, I have a key and totally could have let myself in on my own if I had, you know, limbs but I kind of don't and I couldn't knock or anything again because of the lack of limbs so I guess I sort of technically broke in except for where there was no actual breaking."

"Why are you a sparkly ball of light?" Xander asks, because he eventually gets there, even if he's sometimes a little slow.

Bridge is gonna take that as a "No, I don't mind."

"Don't know," he admits. "Stepped through the wormhole on one hand, floated through on the other. So... it could be Fandom being Fandom, or it could be the fact that we didn't take a shuttle, this time. Sky and Z are like this too."

Xander slooooowly takes that in and digests it. Unlike, well. Dinner. "At least you didn't turn purple?" He's looking for an up-side, dammit.

From the living room comes an aggrieved, "RIBBIT!"

"I think Jeremiah objects to the implication that that's a bad thing," Bridge observes, trying to joke back. Now that it's been a while, his initial optimism is starting to fade just a bit. There's a bit of literal fading too, as the sparkling dims somewhat along with his mood.

"It's not a bad thing in a frog," Xander says defensively in Jeremiah's direction. "And... okay, I'd still find you hot if you were purple." This being back to Bridge, in case anyone's confused.

"Well, now I'd rather be human-shaped and purple than green and sparkly," Bridge admits.

"We'll get you human-shaped again," Xander promises. Even though he has absolutely no idea how.

"Hope so," Bridge says quietly, floating a bit closer. "Um. So..." if he had feet he'd be scuffing his toe on the carpet right now. "Would you mind having a talking nightlight stick around tonight?"

"I didn't mind when you were a four year old; why would I mind when you're a glo-ball?"

"I wasn't small and glowy when I was four, though," Bridge points out. "Just small."

"Just means more chocolate milk for me." Xander frowns. "Unless - can you drink? Or eat?"

"I don't think so," Bridge says mournfully. Mournfully because, well, "It smells good though."

Xander's stomach decides to voice its agreement. Loudly. "I can make it for you again when you're people-shaped," Xander says.

"I love you really a lot," Bridge says fondly.

"It probably doesn't even taste that good," Xander says, kindly. Then, "...Hey, how do you know it smells good? You don't have a nose!"

"I don't have a mouth either but that doesn't seem to be stopping me," Bridge points out. "And, you know, I can see and hear stuff despite lack of eyes or ears so that would seem to suggest that though my physical body has changed, my senses remain intact." Well, minus his powers. Which was... a little disconcerting. But then again, he didn't have them when he was a ferret, either.

"Hunh." Xander scratches his head thoughtfully and turns towards the kitchen. "I wonder if you can taste stuff."

"Can't hurt to try?" Bridge says.

Xander come sout again with a plate in each hand. "Well, there's steak and baked potatoes. And, um, gravy. Which you don't have to chew."

Bridge... hovers over one of the plates, for a few moments. And then actually sets his sparkly self *down* on the plate and rolls over to bump into the steak.

"Nope," he reports mournfully. "Nothing."

"Well, that bites!"

"Technically I can't, and that's the problem," Bridge points out.

"What about like...chocolate milk? You don't have to bite that."
