Xander is doing something that... well, some people might call it cooking. Probably not people who actually know how to operate a stove, though. There's chicken, or something that started out as chicken, but then he got distracted by the pasta boiling over, and now it's the artist formerly known as chicken. And the superglue formerly known as pasta.

So... pretty much Xander's doing something that's more properly described as 'staring at his kitchen and wondering if it'd be cheating to dump the whole thing and start pressing random buttons on the food replicator.'

It's been... a day.

"....Sometimes we're sillier than other times?" Xander corrects himself.

"Yeah, that sounds about right," Bridge says with a smile.

"This might be one of those times. I'm just sayin'."

"Hmm," Bridge looks thoughtful. "After careful consideration, I can only conclude that you are, in fact, correct."

Which is good, because seriously, this had been a day that was, well. A day. One that could only be improved by gay dinosaurs. "You have spaghetti sauce on your nose."

And... this would be Bridge going crosseyed in an attempt to verify Xander's claim.

Xander hands him a napkin. "If you're not careful, they'll freeze that way," he warns.

Bridge takes the napkin and swipes at his nose, giving Xander a suspicious look.

"What?"

"That's the kind of thing my mother would say," Bridge says.

"...........Mine too, actually."

"It's a little freaky," Bridge admits.

"My mom actually saying stuff that other people's moms say? It is, kinda."

"I'm guessing that wasn't the sort of thing that happened a lot?"

"Not all that often." Xander gives a half shrug. "Sometimes. Like she'd go through spurts of remembering she had a kid, and try too hard?" He might be wondering if Bridge had just played witness to one of those this month, yeah.

Bridge looks down at his plate for a moment, and then back up at Xander. "Do you think that's why she showed up last week?"

"Maybe." Xander twirls his fork in his food again. "Who knows. I could win a mint on betting what they'll do, but hell if I could tell you why."
