Old friends who call to tell you about infestations of the undead? Not so good.

At this point Xander's just grateful there's at least one person he won't have to leave a voice-mail for, since he's already here.

"That's the last of them," Xander says, thumbing off his phone. "For now, anyway."

"Guess you were right about there being more than just the one," Bridge makes a face from where he's sitting on the couch.

"And yet, not feeling the urge to hold an I Told You So party," Xander answers, frowning. "I s'pose I should be glad for Mel that she's got something real to fight, but I still gotta go with fake vampires being better."

"No argument here," Bridge says. "I'm all for fighting evil, and all, but sometimes it would be nice if evil didn't insist on showing up on your doorstep."

"Seriously. It never even brings pizza."

"Uh, well. Actually..." Bridge coughs. "That's, um. Not strictly true?"

"....You had an evil pizza delivery guy?"

"Well, pizza chef," Bridge says. "He tried to bake one of the Red Rangers into a giant pizza this one time."

"That... sounds familiar. Like maybe Conner told me about it?"

"I wouldn't be surprised," Bridge says. "It's one of those things that's weirder than the normal level of weird, so it sort of sticks out."

Normal level of weird, he mouths. Then, "I realize," Xander says, "that I've mentioned this before, but our lives are not like other people's lives."

"True," Bridge says. "And, sometimes that's not a very good thing. Like when it involves evil vampires. But if our lives were less weird we might not have met at all because an interdimensional high school is pretty up there on the scale of weird, and I gotta say, I vastly prefer a life with you in it versus one where you're not."

"I prefer a life with me in it too," Xander answers, his lip twitching in amusement. "We have so much in common!"

"I don't know," Bridge says, pretending to think about it. "I mean, *I* don't think I'm half as funny as *you* are..."

"You just need practice. How many vampires does it take to screw in a light bulb?"

"Two, but they need to be realllly little vampires."

"I don't ge-" Bridge starts to say, then looks sheepish. "Oh."

"Lesson number one: that was a bad joke. Don't tell ones like that."

"I really don't think that'll be a problem, since I didn't even *get* it at first," Bridge points out.

"Ah, lesson number 2: assume everything is dirty. You won't always be right, but it's a good place to start."

"I feel like I should be taking notes, or something," Bridge muses.

"Didn't I do a bit on comic-relief back in Scoobying?" Xander asks, not sure he remembers it rightly after all this time.

"Yeah, but I was a ferret at the time," Bridge points out. "More interested in licking pie filling off your face than taking notes. Not that I *could* take notes since, well. Paws."

"Oh riiight, that was the pie-fight." Xander snickers.

Bridge nods. "It's all sort of hazy. I think mostly because of all the sugar."

"I think you might have actually consumed about three times your weight in whipped cream."

"It... seemed like a good idea at the time?" Bridge says with a shrug.

"Well, you didn't explode, so I guess it worked out okay!"
