MCA0, Sunday night

Xander's in the kitchen, being thinky. And cooking. Which mostly consists of poking at the food synthesizer to see what wacky-but-still-edible things he can get it to make, since he knows better than to trust himself with an actual stovetop while engaging in thinkiness.

It's not bad thinkiness, necessarily - despite the construction project being over, and the last week of it being tainted with Umbridge-related nastiness, they had put the school back together. And Umbridge was gone. Resoundingly, loudly gone. Yay.

But other people are going to be gone too, which less with the yay. And, well. Thinky.

"Yeah, can we rewind the conversation back to before we were talking about eating books? Which Willow and Rory would burn me at the stake for anyway."

"Yeah," Bridge says, frowning slightly. "Rory left today," he adds glumly.

Xander nods. "Yeah, I stopped by to see her earlier."

"I hate this time of year kind of a lot," Bridge admits. The beginning of summer hadn't been fun either, really, but the end of summer was worse.

It's been a long time since Xander needed to hate this time of year, but that doesn't mean he's forgotten it. "I'm starting to remember why, yeah."

"I. Um. Do you mind if I stay here, tonight?" Bridge asks, halfheartedly poking at a few buttons on the food synthesizer. He's pretty sure Xander wouldn't *mind*, but then again he'd been over kind of a lot recently, due to excessive rule-breaking.

"No. Why would I?" Xander wanders over to look over his shoulder at the machine. "Nobody's gonna cast spells at you for it now."

"Well, I've been staying over a lot," Bridge points out. "I thought maybe you might be tired of always having me around, or something."

Xander snorts, but slips an arm over Bridge's shoulder from behind. "Ask me again when I get caught up for missing the last six years."

"Okay," Bridge says, leaning back against Xander. "But if you can put up with me for six years that might just mean you're stuck with me forever."

A couple really, really stupid responses having to do with how long forever tends to be in the place he grew up roll through Xander's head and make him feel older than he is. He doesn't say any of them.

"Oh no. Fate worse than brussels sprouts!" he says instead. Because he's mature like that.

"Hey!" Bridge protests. "I like brussels sprouts!"

"And yet I still want you around. If that doesn't say love..."

"You know what *does* say love?" Bridge grins up at Xander.

"Not fleeing from the dirty socks under my bed?"

"Well, yes. That. But also me, right now. I love you."

"Hmm, you're right. That's much better than the brussels sprouts thing." That might be Xander's chin resting on his head.

"That's what I thought you'd think," Bridge says happily. "By the way. Are you, uh, doing anything Tuesday morning? Around 5am-ish?"

"...........sleeping?"

"No you're not," Bridge informs him. "I'm coming over and we're watching the lunar eclipse."

"At five in the morning."

"Until sunrise," Bridge says with a nod. "After which, well, the eclipse will still be happening, we just won't be able to actually see it."

"....This isn't a euphemism for you coming over at 5 a.m. to moon me, right? Because that I could see waking up for."

"No," Bridge frowns. "It's an eclipse with the moon and Earth's shadow and it's really, really neat looking and I *promise* you can go back to sleep after, or we could do something that's, you know, not sleep, since I don't have classes and the construction's done so I don't think either of us really has an elsewhere to be..."

"Just so you don't think it's all about the something that's not sleep, you do know you had me at 'I;m coming over,' right?"
