MCA#0, Sunday evening

After a week full of encounters, some of them less awkward than others and at least one a lot less expected than others, Xander was alone.

More specifically, he was sitting alone at the small table in his kitchen, with a beer and a box.

The tv out in the den was playing something old enough to have a laugh track and familiar enough that he wasn't really listening to it. He'd just left it on for the noise.

You'd think he'd be out there watching, since it wasn't like he was doing anything else productive, like going through the box. He was just sitting there in the kitchen, slowly sipping his beer and flipping through the first thing he'd found packed at the top of the box: a photo album.

"Uh-huh," Bridge grins. "The actual plant is native to the Cimmerian planet. They're too dangerous to be exported offplanet, so... hologram."

Xander raises an eyebrow, then grins. "So if it was real, would I have an arm anymore?"

"No, 'cause it would've eaten mine when I took it out of the box," Bridge points out.

"Or before you put it in. Which would kind of violate the Be careful thing." Xander waves his fingers above the pot again and grins. "Thanks. You didn't really have to bring me anything, you know - I was just teasing you. Though... hmmm." He stands up and starts rummaging through the box on the table.

Bridge grins. "I know, but I couldn't pass that one up."

"Yeah, I do that too. See stuff I have to get for people." Xander rummages in the box until he finds what he was looking for. "Sometimes even if I don't expect to see 'em anytime soon." He hands Bridge a rather large paperback book. "Though, uh, I may've read it from cover to cover peeked a little. Just to keep it warm for ya."

"This is... wow," Bridge says, already itching to start flipping through it. "It's perfect. Thank you." He adds, leaning over to give Xander a hug.

"Well, I figured you needed a guide to all those dorky sci-fi references I make about stuff your parents grew up watching." It's easier to say without that breaking his brain now, though that might not be a good thing. Xander hugs back, but ends it faster than he would have in the past.

Which is something Bridge notices, but doesn't comment on, because he's mostly just grateful to be getting Xander-hugs at all. "It's exactly what I need."

Xander darts a glance at the plant. "And I clearly have always needed a carniverous holographic potted plant; it's amazing what you don't know you're missing until you find it." He wiggles his fingers at it again. "It needs a name, don't you think?"

Bridge looks at it thoughtfully. "Definitely," he agrees.

"What about..." Okay no, because he can just see her somewhere bitch-please-ing him and saying You named an alien arm-eater after me? Which makes Xander giggle a little, and the thought that follows doesn't make it any better. "Um. What do you think of 'Hellmouth' for a name?"

Which makes *Bridge* giggle a little. "I think that's kind of perfect."
