MCA #0, Thursday Night (Movie Night)

To say it'd been a weird couple of weeks for a lot of his friends would be an understatement. Xander knew a movie night wasn't going to magically fix that, but it least it would give them a chance to relax a little.

So he had the basic necessities: popcorn, stuff in the kitchen for more substantial snacks, over-caffeinated soda and, of course, movies. The box of his things that had arrived from storage this week contained most of his dvds, not that he'd amassed all that many since Sunnydale went boom, but certainly enough for tonight.

And Harper had been nice enough to leave the place furnished with a less than basic necessity - the huge tv in the den. Xander wasn't about to claim this job didn't have perks.

So now he (and Jeremiah, who was supervising the proceedings from a table near the couch) was just waiting for people to show up.

He was kind of going for a 'Fandom Invasions I Have Known' theme here, so he started with zombies.

Not that anyone was likely to stay awake to reach Crazy Snowguy or Dragonkiller - Mel had curled up in a corner chair and was already sacked out by the time the opening credits finished rolling.

Buffy arrived with, well, herself and a nervous expression. She wasn't sure she really belonged at this party, no matter what Dawn said.

"Hey Buffy," Bridge grins back and holds out the medium-ish bowl of popcorn that he's claimed as "his" so Buffy can grab some if she wants.

"Yay popcorn!" Buffy said approvingly, reaching out to grab a handful. She was starting to relax. This wasn't so bad at all.

"It's buttery," he informs Buffy, with the fingerwiggle of course. "How're you?" Bridge asks. The last time they'd been in the same place at the same time, there had been creepy space cannibals, after all.

Buffy might still be slightly bitter that they weren't really space vampires. She smiled. "I'm good. What about you?" She gave his fingers a puzzled look.

Dawn figured she'd done her part by annoying people into showing up inviting a lot of the guests, but she brought chips and salsa and a comfy pillow, too.

Dawn took her customary spot on the floor (well, customary for her in the sense that when Xander and Willow and Buffy let her watch movies with them, she got to sprawl on her belly on the floor, since the furniture was all taken and she was the youngest) and waited for the movie to start.

She was actually in a pretty good mood--they might not have been the *same* scoobies, but having a Xander, a Willow, and a Buffy in the same room at the same time made her feel safe. And home.

"Buffy does know I wanted her here, right?" Xander asked, grabbing a spot on the floor next to Dawn, at least for the moment. "I always feel like I shouldn't push the whole Scooby thing on her, but... she's still Buffy."

Probably the truth (that it had been a crazy-insane week) wasn't the best idea, considering this was supposed to be a friendly gathering. "There's movies and junk food, what's not to like?" he says with a shrug and a grin. It's still the truth, just... a different one.
