"It happened yesterday," Bridge points out, in a way that's helpful except not. "And the day before. And the day before." It hadn't happened on Monday, but then... *nothing* had happened on Monday.

That would be Xander's head under the pillow, thanks. "I meant before this." He waves a hand that he can't actually see. "This... this. Thing." That's been happening all week.

"I'm sorry," Bridge says mournfully. Because he is. He really, really is. "I didn't mean- maybe we're just trying too hard?"

"Too hard?" Xander lifts a corner of the pillow and gives him the eye. "I'm thinking no."

Bridge snorts. "I didn't mean literally. I meant... well, okay, literally. But the other kind of literal! Where it's a synonym for effort!"

"What, all in a day's work?" Xander emerges from the pillow long enough to give it a couple of punches and flop his head back down on top of it. "It's not exactly a chore."

"Not til lately, anyway," Bridge agrees with a sigh, shifting a bit closer.

"Maybe it's the bed?" Xander suggests. "Or I dunno, the lights. Or there's something in the water..."

"We weren't *in* the bed yesterday," Bridge points out. "We could turn the lights on? I don't think it's the water but I could, I dunno, scan it or something? See if it's evil?"

"You drank it with breakfast. I think you'd have noticed."

"So, not the water then."

"Premature senility?" Xander offers. No, he's not serious, except for the irritated edge to his voice.

"Do not even joke about that," Bridge says with a glare.

"Hey, I could've meant you."

"And yet, the 'do not even joke about that' would still stand."

"At least something would."

"At least your sarcasm isn't broken?" Bridge says, trying to find a bright side.

"I was actually being serious!" Bridge insists. Because he is!

"That's even worse!" Xander points out.

"That I don't want you to lose your sarcasm?" Bridge asks, clearly puzzled.

"That you're bringing up the idea. Thats kind of where the 'even' in 'don't even joke about that' comes in," Xander explains.

"Weird stuff here happens because of the bad guys," Bridge points out. "And I don't think Gruumm would think taking away your sarcasm would help him take over the wor- do you think Gruumm did *this*?"

Xander gives him a look of horror. "What?"

"Maybe he did a spell or something? I mean, the same thing could be happening to Z, or Sky, or Syd... well maybe not the *same* thing, exactly, in Z or Syd's case," Bridge groans. "I so don't wanna ask any of them about this."
