Break weeks always had Vi at feeling a bit at odds with herself, like this was when they'd finally realise she wasn't supposed to be here or that something was going to happen.

At least she had plenty of work to keep herself occupied, especially because Saffron was still demanding she make up very moment of attention that she'd decided Vi had failed to give her.

Fall 2025 Class Sign-Ups!

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your Fall 2025 Classes! These sign-ups are for EVERYONE: students, teachers, and townies. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap. "Blame the moose" has been working for years!

3) If you sign up, please, please try to show up. It lets the mods judge if you're still in the game and it makes the work the teachers are putting into coming up with something fun to interact with so worth it.

4) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

5) To be fair to people in all time zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve.

And now we get to what you really want to see: Fall Classes!!!!

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Saturday, August 30th, and are IG knowledge at the Welcome Picnic.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. Questions or difficulties, please email us - fandomhighadmins (@) iambicnut.com - or drop a question in the Questions thread down below.

Infinite Consortium, Monday

Scrolling through her phone this past weekend while Ignis had negotiated interest rates with an Orzhov functionary (if it had been the advokist they'd met at Teysa's party, Liliana would have been tempted to tease him by calling it flirting rather than negotiating), had given her a delightful new idea for a surprise present. So, rather than actually doing any work around the Consortium, she was sitting behind the counter working on that. She technically had two employees, surely they could handle... anything that required handling.

Fandom Radio - Sunday (8/24)

It's Sunday once more and we have... you know I'm being honest when I say this should have been in an email. But fine.

Ahem.

Over Easy and Raiden dealt with the influx of zucchini. Is that a thing? A summer thing? Either way, he wasn't having it.

And that's all I have. But next week should be more busy at least. Ciao!

Over Easy, Saturday

There were extra peaches in the delivery today at Over Easy. Raiden wasn't complaining. Raiden was never gonna complain about fresh, in-season peaches. Besides, it wasn't an unmanageable amount or anything.

The zucchini, though...well, the zucchini was doing what zucchini in August did, but that wasn't the island being weird. That was his employees being desperate.

"Okay, listen up! You cannot get rid of your excess zucchini by sneaking it into the walk-in! I'm making a rule right now. What? Can you leave it in your coworkers' cars? Sure. That doesn't mess up our inventory."

Specials
Zucchini Pancakes
Goat Cheese & Summer Vegetable Quiche
Peach Crisp Yogurt Bowls

Fandom Radio, Saturday, August 23

Good morning, everyone! It is I, Miss Lydia Bennet, here to bring you the last news from the summer term--and everything else the squirrels took notice of yesterday, as well, but we shall begin with the school, where Drama in the Park-a-Rama presented their play (in the park, of course), with promise of an afterparty at the Waffle House, which I do hope arrived for the occasion. Miss Belle and Mr. Rogers were standout performers, according to the squirrels, who have also taken care to note that I was in the audience. Markets of the World visited a fish market in Tokyo, where it seems Miss Zarrin was not much of a fan of all of the fish, and Mr. Rand likewise expressed some, shall we say, doubt about the fish to Miss Beniko. There was, I must say, quite a lot of fish. First Aid 2: First Aider had a practical exercise for their final exam, and it seems Captain Flint received high marks! Congratulations, sir!

Let's now move along to the--ah, I see there is news from the dormitory. The porg is very excited. I'm sure we're all very happy for the porg. It seems that Miss Zarrin was reading a book and eating peaches in the second floor common room, where she was joined by Miss Belle, with whom she discussed her reading material, which was apparently somewhat lacking, and Mr. Gray, who was in the process of moving out of the dormitory. I am sure we shall all dearly miss having to step over him on the staircases whilst he sleeps the day away. He and Miss Zarrin discussed their siblings, sin, and Miss Zarrin's reading material versus real pirates, whilst he and Miss Belle discussed his plans for the future now that he has concluded his schooling.

We conclude with the town, where Needful Things remained closed for refurbishment, as well as because Dr. Quinn had gone out. Whilst she was out she called upon Dr. Isley at Pick Your Poison. Dr. Quinn told Dr. Isley that she and Mr. Spector have decided to be friends, which course of action Dr. Isley had some doubts about, and Dr. Isley informed Dr. Quinn about her, shall we say, less than productive conversation with Mr. Grant and Mr. Spector the day before. At Turtle & Canary Mr. Argentum was learning about the Tooth Fairy, and I don't know what that is but I do know that one should never muck about with the fae, and one that deals in teeth sounds terrifying. Miss Eleanor was enjoying some peaches of her own at Plant Parenthood, and goodness, now you have me wanting peaches. At Miss Skywalker's warehouse, the aforementioned Miss Skywalker was distracted by the woodchucks gossiping about her, before they turned to judging Dean Skywalker's form. And with that, dear listeners, I have come to the end of my notes, so I'm off to enjoy our week of holiday. Farewell until next time!

Second Floor Common Room; Early Friday Evening [08/22].

There were still peaches in the common room that morning, and fresh ones, too, if Luma's sense of smell was anything to go by (and it usually was a very reliable source). Which meant that she, hair still damp around her shoulders after the shower she took after returning back from some tkme in the woods to get the linger smell of the fish market from class out of her nostrils, and dressed in her faded, yellowing lace nightgown better suited for a girl rather than a young woman in her twenties, was absolutely giddy to discover them.

"Heavenly," she gushed to herself as she plucked the largest one out of the basket on the table, holding it to her nose and breathing in deeply as she sunk down onto one of the sofas. She reveled in it for a few more moments before taking a big bite, the soft and fuzzy flesh tearing away into her mouth all the easier with those sharp teeth of hers, juicing running down her chin that she only bothered to wipe away once it threatened to drip.

And even with the temptation to just devour it right up, she took her time with a happy sigh, before turning her attention to her book.

And likely getting sticky peach juice on the pages.

Sorry, library! Of course it was a borrowed one, too.

[[ sometimes, a scene just gets stuck in your head, you know? Open common room is open! ]]

Rey was trying to do things. It wasn't going well because the woodchucks (and one porg) seemed to be talking about her, not subtly. They'd stand in a huddle and then stop chittering and look over at her, and then go back to it until the nxlext time they checked for her.

"You're being really distracting," she called, which only made them chitter loudly.

Fandom Radio, Friday, August 22, 2025

Good morning, everyone, this is Captain Steve Rogers with yesterday's news.

*defensive chittering*

No, that's not a criticism! In my day, we were getting three-week-old news! You guys are doing swell. This is the last week of classes, and so Raiden took Pizza class to Rome and not Sweden because "that would be cruel", and I have to admit I'm now kind of curious about Swedish pizza. Roman pizza was delicious, though. Markets of the World ended the summer in Tokyo, though Jack was dubious about what they were going to do with fresh fish. Finding New Hobbies explored photography with guest lecturer Prompto. Steven was worried that he'd lost time, but he showed up on time for his correct class on a Thursday, so I think he's okay unless he subscribes to Colonel Phillips' 'if you're on time, you're late' school of thought. Prompto told Stark that Noctra is meeting her first chocobo--

*chittering*

I'm getting 'rideable chicken' from the picture the squirrels have drawn, so I hope that's close? And Liliana's final class explored the time Urza finally died, but still remains the worst. She and Ignis then made househunting plans for the weekend.

In town, Jack's phone kept ringing and ringing. When he finally picked it up, it was definitely not news that required a phone call.

*chittering*

I don't know what 'phone calls are Boomer nonsense' means. Prompto offered to grab brunch stuff for lunch for Liz on his way back from helping in Stark's class, Luma was painting her nails at Pixie Dust once scrolling her phone got dull, and the Supper Club went out for Korean barbecue and hot pot, even though all the participants were confused by both concepts. Henry didn't know what barbecue even was, but it's definitely not related to pizza, pal. Hot pot is also not barbecue soup, oh my goodness. Maybe I'll invite myself along on one of these excursions because recapping this makes me sad when Ignis isn't there to explain things. Lydia told Rey that they'd be cooking their own dinner, so let's cross our fingers and hope that the restaurant stepped in before they made barbecue soup or Flint burned his way through a second pot in two days.

Steven was a little twitchy behind the desk at the museum before Pam, introducing herself as Poison Ivy, so I'm guessing this was a professional call, told Steven that he owed Harley--who Pam explained is her girlfriend in a different reality and her friend-friend here--an apology for calling her, quote, "too hurt to accept kindness." Steven, instead of agreeing that a comment like that would warrant an apology, said that because he didn't know Pam was who she said she was, she might be making up her interest in Harley's emotional well-being. Pam took that...less well...and then Marc showed up. What?

*chittering*

Oh, this is a Bruce and the Hulk sort of situation?

*awkward pause*

Right, you don't know what I'm talking about. Anyway, Marc told Pam to forget about what happened here, which seems especially unlikely since I've now recapped this for the radio. The brochure rack got destroyed again, and then Watts showed up for their every-other-week Thursday lunch. He got a brief recap of Pam's visit and then they discussed how she might've gotten the name Poison Ivy.

Finally, at the Devil's Nest, Thor was making coconut cocktails while Tiny was building coconut defenses and we're...we're just gonna note that and end the broadcast. Have a great weekend, everyone!

First Aid 2: First Aider

It was time once more for Don's very favorite final. He had asked his students to meet him in the Danger Shop, and once they arrived he pressed a button on the remote and keyed the simulation up: a street in Midtown Manhattan, currently frozen in time.

"Welcome to New York," Don told his students. "It's a lovely Friday morning in August, and..." He pushed another button on the remote, and now people were running. People were screaming. Something exploded a few blocks away. "Ah, just like old times. Sounds like Dr. Banner has lost his temper again about eight blocks north of here, and..." he cupped a hand around his ear and listened. "Yep, yep, and Magneto is on a tear about five blocks south. Bruce can't really help it and Mr. Lensherr has a point, but it's hard on the ol' infrastructure. And the civilians...and sometimes the superheroes. You've each been supplied with a virtual version of your first aid kits," it was a field medic kit, was what it was, Tony, "so pick a direction, go find someone moddable in need of first aid assistance, and render aid to the best of your ability. Go! Shoo!"

Drama in the Park-a-Rama [Friday, Period One]

There was a stage set up in the park today, with seating for anyone who felt inclined to stop by to witness the director's ~vision~. There were foam swords for the climatic sword fight, the ride on car toys for the even more climatic drag race, an entire board full of gremlin programmed lighting effects, and Belle's costume had somehow been replaced with one made entirely of red flags. Not one thing was missing.

Except, maybe, a script?

Yeah, that was sort of necessary. But, you know what? The teachers were just going to see where the day took them! Mostly behind the stage to hype up their tiny, tiny cast.

"It's the last class and then we can pretend none of this ever happened," Jane suggested, much to the dismay of the director gremlin.

"It'll all be a faint memory," Cara added, because you certainly couldn't prove that she was the one who'd just provided the intern porg with a go-pro to immortalize the end result. "The kind you wake up from years later in a cold sweat."
"And we'll treat you all to Waffle House after," Jane promised. Because she wasn't above bribery to get this done.

Who needed scruples when you had one final class to get though?

Needful Things; Friday

There was a new sign in Needful Things' window this Friday:

The store remained empty, and the proprietress (as much as Harley was that in any legal sense) was not in. Not in the store, and not even in the building, for the first non-hyena-walkies time since Tuesday morning.

It was, in one word...

Quiet.

Turtle & Canary; Friday [08/22].

Prompto was not from around here. Like, sure, most of the denizens of the island were not from around here, but a good handful were at least from this planet, or at least some universe's variation of it, and so they had a cultural touchstone for most popular ideas. And since Prompto had started going here in his teens and his world had a lot of similarities (still a little mindblowingly awesome that both this world and his had a Vivienne Westwood!), there were a lot of things that fell through the gaps that hadn't come up yet.

Like the Tooth Fairy.

And it apparently being National Tooth Fairy Day meant that Prompto was getting an education. From Apu, currently dressed as a Tooth Fairy, sparkling wings and pink tutu and magic wand and everything.

"Wait, so you actually tell kids to put their baby teeth under their pillow and that some magical creature comes into their rooms at night to exchange those teeth...from their mouth....with money?"

....Call him a bit skeptical. He was absolutely going to ask Liz about this later when he got home. Apu had to be making that up. Or at the very least, it was something specific to his particular version of Earth because there was no way...

At least it was distracting him from freaking out too much about next weekend, though!

Plant Parenthood; Friday [08/22].

There had been a couple of large baskets of some honestly beautiful looking peaches in the common room that morning before Eleanor got ready to head to class and work, and so she'd grabbed several to enjoy throughout the day. It gave her a nice motivation through taking care of things around the shop, because as soon as she was finished, she could make herself a cup of tea, crack open the next poetry book she'd picked up from the library, and dig into the peaches she had left, surrounded by all of lovely plants and books and other things that filled the space.

It really was the small pleasures in life that were the most precious sometime, and now Eleanor also wanted to look more into other benefits of peaches other than just being, clearly, delicious.

Plant Parenthood is open! And peachy keen.

Pick Your Poison, Friday

It had been a week. Pam was still ticked off, and the space underneath her ribs hurt even worse, and-- she was channeling all of it into her work. Because that was the healthy way to do it, wasn't it?

Eventually, blood draw exhaustion kicked in again. And again, she had to take herself downstairs, though her side really stung and she found herself clinging to the railing on the way down.

But Pam was nothing if not stubborn.

She held her chin up high, poured herself a glass of water in the back room, flipped the 'open' sign, and then dragged herself to the sofa.

It would pass. It always did.

(And then by afternoon, Harley-her-Harley would call, and she'd be out of here like a shot. Not yet, though.)

It's one of the largest markets on Earth, and a huge tourist attraction, though it is still heavily oriented towards food." Not necessarily a downside.

"We've had to fuss with time in the portals so it's not night, so I've also gotten us four hours to explore. Some people will speak English, but if you're worried, you can get help at the information desk. They can also help you find anything in particular you may be looking for."

“It’s our final class together,” Stark said. “And I’ve brought a friend to help us learn about a hobby. Or it doesn’t have to be a hobby. It can be an entire job, too. So. Prompto is here. To talk to you, to us, about photography. Which some of you know about already. Maybe all of you do? Probably all of you do.”

Stark shrugged. He was getting close to babbling. Maybe it was time for Prompto to talk.

And Prompto had to grin a little, because it was rare when he was actually not the more awkward public speaker in a room. "Hi," he said, waving a hand, while his other held a camera. "I'm Prompto, I know some of you already, and those of you who do know me know that I am all about this thing." He held up the camera in the other hand. "My camera. And photography, which is a really great hobby because all you really need is a camera, and there's tons of different ones out there, from super fancy ones to even just the camera on your phone. I started my photography journey when I was a kid, and it was a really great way for me to explore and understand my world, and so now I'm going to share some of that with you guys. I'm going to talk a little bit about how to use a camera and basic tips for great pics, and then I've got some great Polaroid cameras so that you can use the rest of the class to give it a try and get to see the results right away without having to wait for the film to develop. While also having a cool physical copy of the picture, unlike with your phone!

"So let's get started!"

Stark nodded. “Yes. Let’s.” Look, he also wanted to play with the Polaroids.
